About Us

Ocean Divers is a PADI Five Star Instructor Development Centre and a Scubapro Platinum Dealer.
Established since 1972, Ocean Divers is the longest operating dive store in Melbourne.

Dive Crew

Ocean Divers has a range of experienced staff and Instructors on hand, some who have been in the industry for over 35 years. We have 5 full time staff members, both English and Chinese speaking, and 7 part time Instructors who teach with us on the weekends.

Amongst our team we have a PADI Course Director, 1 Master Instructor, 2 IDC Staff Instructors, 3 Master Scuba Diver Trainers, 2 PADI Tec Instructors, 2 CDAA Advanced Cave Instructors, and four OWSI Instructors.

Introduction

We’re a PADI Five Star Instructor Development Centre – one of the highest ratings awarded to any Dive Store as recognition of continued Diver training excellence.

We can start your diving journey with a learn to dive course, we can help you continue along a diving pathway with PADI specialty training, taking you all the way to teaching you to be an Instructor.

If you’re technically minded we can teach PADI Technical courses or introduce you to cave diving with the CDAA courses.

At Ocean Divers we pride ourselves on the service we offer, whether it be to you as a student, a club member or an off the street customer.

What differentiates us from other dive shops is our staff love diving, we don’t only teach diving, we go diving ourselves whenever we have a free moment, our life is based around diving, if we’re not on a dive holiday, we’re planning the next dive holiday, we dive together, we dive with others and we’re more than happy to dive with anyone!

We don’t mind sharing our knowledge or advice and our expertise at no cost to make sure our divers are getting the most out of every dive they do.

We help divers improve their skills and comfort in the water so they improve their enjoyment, and we get satisfaction watching others come out of a dive with bigger smiles than ours.

At Ocean Divers we specialise in retail and sales, travel both interstate and overseas, and local boat and shore dives.

We also offer equipment hire, air fills, nitrox fills and on-site repairs and servicing including tank testing, as we are approved by Quality Assurance Services Australia.

Very skilled team

As a mature entrant to the world of SCUBA I very much appreciated the care, detail and safety taken in providing the training for my Open Water and Nitrox certifications. I'm a qualified industry trainer myself and observed a very skilled team helping everyone in our class to reach their goals. She gave great advice (as always) throughout the course and went beyond the course materials to make sure we understood what we were doing and why. Offering advice for improving trim and position in the water on the open water dives was really helpful. We always get great service in the shop when hiring gear and they always have time for a chat too!

Fom the theory, the swimming pool, shore dive and boat dive and equipment supply, the course was well organised. I recommend that if you're thinking of doing a diving course do it at Ocean Divers. Went out with Ocean divers last Sat for our first dive after arriving from the UK. Water was cold at Flinders pier and my daughter of 13 was very nervous even though she’s dived in worse in the UK! Just completed my advanced open water course with my daughter this weekend in less than perfect conditions. Both Lizzie and Luke are to be commended on the way they clearly communicated to us prior to each dive our goals not to mention there guidance underwater. Our debrief after each dive and in particular after our last dive today was spot on. No rush to get home for them and leave us until, we were all satisfactorily debriefed.
