Guided Dives

Dive with a guide

A guided dive is a dive with one of our PADI professionals: an instructor or divemaster who plans the dive, briefs the site and stays with you in the water. It suits divers who are newly certified, returning after a break, visiting Melbourne, or who simply want to get to know the local sites with someone who dives them every week.

How it works

  • Tell us your certification level, when you last dived and the dates you have in mind. We match you with a guide and choose a site to suit the conditions and your experience.
  • Most guided dives are shore dives from the piers and beaches of Port Phillip Bay. Boat dives can be arranged with local charter operators.
  • Meet your guide at the site, or at the shop by arrangement. Your guide handles the briefing, the dive plan and the navigation, so you can concentrate on the diving.

Prices

Single guided dive: $225
Double dive (two dives in one outing): $295

Prices cover your guide only. Rental equipment is available from the shop at our standard hire rates. For boat dives, the charter fare for you and your guide is charged separately at the operator’s current rate.

Popular dive sites

  • Rye Pier – the octopus garden, stingrays, sea hares and nudibranchs, and in winter the spider crab aggregation.
  • Flinders Pier – known for its weedy seadragons.
  • Blairgowrie Pier – a sheltered pier dive on the southern Peninsula.
  • Brighton Beach – the closest shore dive to the city, ideal for a refresher.

These are a few of our favourites. We dive many more sites around Port Phillip Bay and along the coast, chosen on the day for the conditions and for what you want to see. Ask us where the diving is best this week.
