PADI Freediver

Introduction

PADI: PADI is the world’s largest recreational diving organization, operating in 186 countries and regions with a global network connecting 6,600 dive centers and resorts and over 128,000 professionals. It issues over 1 million certifications annually, with a total of over 29 million certifications issued to date. PADI enables people worldwide to explore new adventures and protect the ocean through diving education, life-changing experiences, and travel.

AIDA: AIDA is the oldest existing freediving organization, primarily responsible for promoting safe freediving practices, organizing competitions, and certifying world records. Unlike other freediving organizations, AIDA is a non-profit organization, meaning nearly all its revenue is invested in freediving research and development to deepen our understanding of freediving and improve teaching methods based on research findings. AIDA’s educational materials are among the most frequently and promptly updated in the industry.

Molchanovs: The Molchanovs education system is developed by freedivers, for freedivers. Inspired by Natalia Molchanova and founded by her son Alexey Molchanov, both among the world’s greatest freedivers, Molchanovs is likely the only system covering all competitive freediving disciplines, including no-fins and monofin techniques. The Molchanovs education team consists of elite freedivers, top educators, and experienced professionals who share a deep passion and commitment to freediving.

Description

Freediving is about inward power, discipline and control. If you’ve always wanted to enter the underwater world quietly, on your own terms, staying as long as your breath allows, then freediving is for you. Taking the PADI Freediver course is your first step toward discovering why freediving is becoming a popular way to explore beneath the waves.

The PADI Freediver course consists of three main phases:

Knowledge development about freediving principles through independent study with PADI Freediver eLearning (or your instructor may conduct class sessions if not available in a language you understand).

Confined water session to learn breathhold techniques as well as static and dynamic apnea. Goal – static apnea of 90 seconds and dynamic apnea of 25 metres/80 feet.

Open water sessions to practice free immersion and constant weight freedives, plus proper buddy procedures. Goal – constant weight freedive of 10 metres/30 feet.
